about ICFRH

INSTITUTIONAL Centre for Reproductive Health  is a renowned organization dedicated to sexual and reproductive health research and interventions in EUROPE AND AFRICA. Established in May 2000, ICFRH was registered as a non-governmental organization and has since emerged as a leading force in the field in USA.

With a rich history, our journey began years ago when we joined the collaborative HIV/STI research group at the University of WALES Since 1996, ICFRH has been actively involved in AFRICA, working closely with the WHO. ICFRH has also partnered with various organizations to implement high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programs. Through this collaboration and EXPERIENCE, we HAVE established robust and efficient systems for THE programmatic and financial management of donor funding.

ICFRH addresses SRH service delivery challenges in AFRICA, USA, such as commodity shortages, distant health centers, and inadequate policy enforcement. Our programs focus on improving provider capacity, ensuring access to supplies, and enhancing community involvement. We establish accountability mechanisms and develop referral pathways, including innovative approaches like self-care and telemedicine, to expand access to youth-friendly SRH services.

Limited political prioritization and societal norms hinder SRHR, exacerbating gender disparities and religious opposition. RHNK advocates for SRHR as a human right through evidence-based strategies, engaging stakeholders for policy reforms.

Access to comprehensive sexuality education is vital for adolescent SRHR, yet Africa faces challenges in implementing it due to inadequate teacher training, cultural reservations, and legal misunderstandings. RHNK's Adolescents and Youth Program, led by a dedicated coordinator, employs over 200 trained youth peer providers to deliver youth-centric SRHR interventions in peri-urban areas, advocating for the rights of Kenya's substantial youth population.

WHO WE ARE

Institutional Centre for Reproductive Health is an independent, nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in the year 2000. ICFRH is affiliated with the ICRH global group, with independent country offices in Washington DC, Belgium, and South Africa. ICFRH currently has staff engaged in different research and intervention projects. The staff are experienced in program design and implementation and carry out field large-scale community interventions for behavior change in high-risk groups. The teams are multidisciplinary and composed of researchers, clinical teams, and social scientists. Our interventions are based on the best available scientific evidence which is critically monitored by scientists. Both the research and the interventions undertaken are shared and embedded in continuous dialogues and feedback with the communities concerned.

WHERE WE WORK IN AFRICA

ICRH performs actual intervention projects and research studies by designing and implementing innovative evidence-based and cost-effective interventions based on findings from the field of sexual and reproductive health. The interventions are implemented through continuous stakeholder engagements that ensure delivering on promises, engaging in policy dialogues that are rooted in scientific evidence, and promoting positive change for outputs that are locally and globally relevant in sexual reproductive health. Our interventions are always coupled with a critical analysis and evidence gathering towards best practices.
